International Call for Artwork Inspired by the Atomic Underworld

Images of artwork inspired by biological or macromolecular structures 'invisible to the naked eye' are being sought for a book project on this theme. Any medium. The goal is to combine the best images with appropriate text to disseminate the artistry and beauty inherent in these atomic and biological forms to a wider audience for education and promotion among the public at large. The submitted images will be reviewed and the best selected for inclusion in the book. Each selected image will be accompanied by a short description of the piece and its scientific and artistic significance.

To enter the first round of the selection process, please send an email containing three links to

  1. some images (about 5-10, not too large for convenient viewing: about 800 x 600 pixel, <200 KB)
  2. an artist's statement (or similar explanations. Shorter is better, around one page)
  3. and a current resume
